Colette Simpson

Chair, Finance Committee

Colette’s professional path has always reflected her core values. As a manager and financial professional at GEEARS: Georgia Early Education Alliance for Ready Students, her contribution allows advocates and champions for young children to be effective and make a difference in the world. She’s inspired when she can invest in the vision and creativity of an organization, taking their ideas and bringing them to life. This is her mission after three decades working in sectors that range from government to construction to nonprofit. Colette brings creativity, precision, proactivity, excellent communication, and deft problem-solving skills. These qualities—informed, always, by her faith, positivity, and pragmatism—have sustained her through her roles as a nationally renowned musical performer, as an entrepreneur, and now in the early childhood space.

Colette earned her educational launch at Clark Atlanta University and since has augmented her credentials with experience and certifications from organizations including the Center for Working Families, the Atlanta Urban League, Georgia Center for Nonprofits, and the National Association for Professional Women.

In addition to her role as GEEARS’ office manager and bookkeeper, she’s the founder and owner of Green Acres on Wall Street, LLC, an administrative support services business. She still regularly performs as a vocalist and, in her free time, you can always find her reading or enjoying her grandchildren.
