PFCCAG Hires its first Executive Director
The board of directors of the Professional Family Child Care Alliance of Georgia (PFCCAG) is pleased to announce the hiring of the association's first executive director. The creation of this new position results from the dramatic growth in the organization's impact on family child care in Georgia. PFCCAG has contracted with Family Child Care Associates (FCCA) to provide the association with a part-time interim executive director for 2021 and possibly into 2022. The director's role will be filled by Bill Hudson, founder of FCCA and former CEO for the National Association for Family Child Care. Hudson brings to this new position decades of nonprofit leadership, as well as association management experience and a deep understanding of family child care.
PFCCAG's Board President, Sandra Ramsey, noted the significant step for the association: "I would like to welcome our first Executive Director, Bill Hudson. I am confident Bill is the right leader to work alongside staff, board, and our entire family child care community as the association enters a new phase of growth, strategic planning, and vision. His many years of experience in the nonprofit sector and his expertise in family child care nationwide will be an asset to our sustainability and growth. This is a big step for our association. I am looking forward to an exciting and productive future with Bill at the helm."
The decision to create this new position resulted from PFCCAG's recent selection by three different organizations to provide various services to expand their own efforts to support and grow the supply of high-quality family child care in Georgia. As board member Joe Perreault observed, "The establishment of an Executive Director position is an important milestone for any organization but is especially important so PFCCAG can address the challenges of family child care providers operating during the pandemic."
In his role as executive director, Hudson will focus on strengthening the association's infrastructure to support future growth, assist in the management of grant programs, help expand membership, and lead board development activities. According to Hudson, "The association is poised to become the "go-to" partner for organizations looking to support family child care in the great state of Georgia. I'm thrilled to be a part of that journey and look forward to working with PFCCAG's board, its members, and its partners around the state and across the nation."
Started in 2011, PFCCAG is dedicated to serving as the VOICE of family child care and to advocate for quality child care and early education for all children in Georgia. PFCCAG is Georgia's largest family child care membership organization. It has a dual focus of reversing the decline of family child care providers in the state and ensuring current providers have an economically viable and personally rewarding career.
PFCCAG supports its members by hosting statewide conferences and Town Hall events; advocating on behalf of providers by researching issues and documenting problems; by monitoring DECAL and other state/federal agencies, by evaluating policies and programs that affect providers; and by proposing strategies to bring about needed change.
